Miami-Dade Fire Rescue opens its doors to Lighthouse for the Blind


(MIAMI, June 20, 2014) – Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) will welcome participants from the Lighthouse for the Blind Camp to the MDFR Training Facility on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 10 a.m. The Lighthouse for the Blind offers vision rehabilitation, low vision services, Braille and technology instruction services to people who are blind or visually impaired depending on their individual needs.

Campers will experience fire extinguisher training, a kitchen safety presentation, a fire truck demonstration, and an informative talk with a member of our Venom Response team. In addition, through a recently awarded FEMA grant, MDFR will provide and install fire extinguishers and conduct home safety inspection with each participating camper’s family.
